Identify your visitors
Show your users' names and emails instead of Anonymous, and find every visit of one person.
Visitors are anonymous until your site tells Flamio who they are. Call Flamio.identify once your app knows the user, and On-Live shows their name or email on their visits and lets you filter by them.
Before you begin
- The web SDK is installed and sending data. See Install the web SDK.
- You need access to your site's code. The call goes where your app learns who the user is, for example right after sign-in.
- No role in Flamio is needed. Everything happens in your code.

Call identify after sign-in
Once the user is known, call Flamio.identify with their id and, optionally, traits:
import { Flamio } from '@flamioai/web-sdk';
Flamio.identify('USER_ID', {
name: 'USER_NAME',
email: 'USER_EMAIL',
plan: 'pro',
});USER_ID— your own stable id for this user, the same on every device.USER_NAMEandUSER_EMAIL— the user's name and email. Flamio shows them in the Visitor column. Both are optional.plan— an example of any other trait you want to filter by. Use your own keys and values.
The whole session is attributed to the user, including what they did before the call. Keep traits short; see Identify users for the size limit.
Deploy your site
Deploy the change. Visits recorded from then on carry the identity.
Find the person in Visits
In the sidebar, under Flamio On-Live, click Visits. The Visitor column shows the name, or the email when there is no name, instead of Anonymous.
To see one person's visits, type their email into the User email box in the filter bar.
Filter by a trait
Type the trait as key=value, for example plan=pro, into the meta key=value box of the filter bar, and press Enter. A chip such as plan = pro appears, and every visit of the period is checked against it.
The same filter narrows Visits, the Site Map and funnel results.
Check a replay
Open any of the person's visits. In the right-hand panel of the replay, the Info tab shows the identified value in the Visitor row.
Result
Identified visits show who the visitor is, and you can pull up one person's journeys by email or by any trait you passed.
Identity also joins a person's browsers. Where Flamio counts people — for example in funnels and the People charts — someone who signs in on two devices counts once.
If you record only after consent, an identify call made before the visitor accepts is kept and sent once recording starts. See Record only after consent.
