Ask Flami in Slack
Connect Slack once, invite the Flamio bot to your channels, and ask Flami there instead of opening Flamio.
With Slack connected, you can mention the Flamio bot in a channel or send it a direct message, and Flami answers there from your Flamio data.
Before you begin
- You need the Editor, Admin or Owner role to connect Slack.
- Installing the app, inviting the bot and asking all happen in Slack. Many workspaces need a Slack workspace admin to approve a new app.
- One Slack connection serves your whole organization.
Set up Flami in Slack
Connect Slack
Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then Integrations, and scroll to Team chat. Click Connect on the Slack tile, pick your workspace on slack.com and approve it. The popup closes itself and the tile shows "Workspace:" and your workspace name. See Connect Slack.
Invite the bot to your channels
In Slack, invite the Flamio bot into every channel you want to ask in, public and private alike. It only receives mentions from channels it has joined. A direct message needs no invite.
Ask
Mention the bot in such a channel, or send it a direct message, and ask your question.
Choose who may ask
By default, Flami answers only members of your Flamio organization whose Flamio email matches their Slack email, with their own role. To let anyone in a channel ask — people without a Flamio account included — tick Anyone in a channel can ask Flamio on the Slack tile and confirm with Turn on.
Result
Flami posts its answer in the thread. Each answer carries an Open in Flamio link to the full chat in the Assistant.
Anyone in a channel spends your tokens
If Flami does not answer
| Flami replies | What to do |
|---|---|
| "I could not match your Slack account to a member of this Flamio organization." | Use the same email in Flamio and Slack, or ask an admin to invite you. |
| "Your Flamio role does not allow using the assistant." | Ask an organization admin for the Editor role. |
| "I only answer people from the workspace that connected Flamio." | People from other companies in a shared channel cannot ask. |
| "The teammate who connected Slack no longer has assistant access in this Flamio organization." | Reconnect Slack in Settings > Integrations. |
| "Your organization is out of Flamio tokens." | Top up in Flamio. See Tokens. |
| "This one took too long and was cancelled (nothing was charged)." | Ask a narrower question. |
If the bot never reacts in a channel, invite it to that channel first. If the Slack tile reads "Reconnect to enable the Flamio assistant in Slack", click Reconnect and approve again.
