Connect Slack

Connect your Slack workspace once for the whole organization to ask Flami in Slack and deliver project digests.

One Slack connection serves your whole organization. With it, your team can ask Flami in Slack, and each project can deliver its digest to a channel.

Before you begin

  • You need the Editor, Admin or Owner role.
  • Picking the workspace and approving the app happen on slack.com. Many workspaces need a Slack workspace admin to approve installing an app.

Connect your workspace

Open Team chat

Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then Integrations. Scroll past the task trackers to Team chat — "One connection for the whole organization — each project picks its delivery channel in the digest settings."

Start the connection

Click Connect on the Slack tile. The button reads Connecting… while the Slack popup is open.

Approve on Slack

In the popup, pick your workspace and click Allow. The popup says "Slack connected. You can close this window." and closes itself.

Invite the bot

In Slack, invite the Flamio bot to every channel, public or private, where you want to ask it questions. It only receives mentions in channels it has joined. Digests can post to a public channel without an invite.

Optional: let anyone in a channel ask

Tick Anyone in a channel can ask Flamio and confirm Let anyone in a channel ask Flamio? with Turn on. Left off, only members of your Flamio organization can ask, with their own roles. People from other workspaces are never answered.

Result

The tile reads Connected and shows "Workspace:" with your workspace name. Ask Flami in Slack — see Ask Flami in Slack — and set each project's digest channel — see Daily digest.

Channel access spends your tokens

With Anyone in a channel can ask Flamio on, everyone in a channel the bot was invited to — Slack guests included — can ask about your organization's data, and each question spends your tokens.

Reconnect or disconnect

  • "Reconnect to enable the Flamio assistant in Slack" — the connection delivers digests but not chat. Click Reconnect and approve again.
  • "Connection expired — reconnect to resume delivery" — click Reconnect and approve again.
  • "Couldn’t load Slack status. This is usually temporary." — nothing is disconnected. Click Try again.
  • To remove the connection, click Disconnect and confirm Disconnect Slack?. Flami stops answering in Slack, and digest delivery to Slack stops for every project in your organization.
